Biography
Dr. Zhiyuan Zhang is currently an assistant professor at the School of Computing and Information Systems (SCIS), Singapore Management University (SMU). Before joining SMU, he was an assistant professor at Ningbo Innorvation Center of Zhejiang University (ZJU). Prior to ZJU, he was a research fellow in the DManD Lab of Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) (2017-2020) where he focused on 3D computer vision, deep learning, and AI metrology. Zhiyuan also possesses extensive industrial experience. He served as the director of Litemaze Technology (2020) Ltd. responsible for algorithm research. He was a staff researcher at Lenovo (2014-2017) where he led and was engaged in a series of industry-oriented computer vision projects with applications on mobile camera system and surveillance. Zhiyuan received Ph.D degree in Computer Science from National University of Singapore in 2015. Prior to that, he spent one year in the Hong Kong Polytechnic University as a visiting scholar working on 3D biometrics. Zhiyuan’s research expertise is in computer vision and computer graphics. His current research interests include 3D point cloud analysis, understanding, classification, semantic segmentation, unsupervised leaning, and biometrics.
